THREE ALBUMS.
THREE JOURNEYS.
ONE ARTIST.
Distinctive sounds. Original artwork.
Music that moves you somewhere.

FROM SOUND TO IMAGE
I first met Bill Heller more than 20 years ago in San Francisco, when I was painting live to The Rippingtons and Bill was on keyboards. Music and art were literally sharing the stage that night, and years later that connection would turn into a series of album collaborations.
Bill asked me to create the original artwork for three of his albums. There was no predetermined style or visual formula. Each project began the same way: I listened to the music.
Find the Way became energetic, layered and full of movement. Passage moved into a more mysterious, cosmic world. And Coastal Blue opened into something quieter and more expansive, with a horizon, a sail and room to breathe.
Three albums by the same artist, yet three completely different visual identities.
I wasn’t trying to make each album look like an Eric Waugh. I was trying to make it look like what I heard.
BEYOND THE ALBUM ART

1. THE CONNECTION
A creative relationship built around a shared love of music, spanning multiple albums and years of collaboration.

2. THE MUSIC FINDS AN AUDIENCE
Coastal Blue, featuring Eric Marienthal, reached the Smooth Jazz Top 100, bringing the music and its visual identity into the world together.

3. THE MUSIC LIVES ON
The artwork became part of a larger story, connecting Bill’s performances, recordings and audience through a distinct visual identity.
